Privacy Policy

Yoga Quest is a sequencing studio for yoga teachers. It is built local-first: you can browse the pose library, build classes, and teach from them without signing in and without a network connection.
The short version. Your class plans live on your device. The app registers an anonymous identifier so we can count how many people use it — that record holds no name, no email, and none of your class content. You choose whether to sign in, whether to sync, whether to send anonymous usage statistics, and whether to use online AI suggestions. Each of those is off until you turn it on. We do not sell your data, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
What stays on your device
Unless you sign in and sync, all of the following is stored only in app-local storage on the device you are using:
- Class sequences, sections, timings, and your teaching cues
- Reusable section templates
- Your teaching history and private reflections
- App preferences, including theme and accessibility settings
- Collaboration drafts you have not shared
You can export all of it as a JSON file, or erase all of it, from Settings → Privacy & data.
The anonymous identifier
When Yoga Quest first opens with a network connection, it registers an anonymous account with Firebase Authentication. This is not a sign-in: it asks you for nothing, shows you nothing, and needs no email address or password. It produces a random identifier for the installation, and a single record in our database holding that identifier, the date it was created, and the date the app was last opened.
We use it for one thing: knowing how many people use Yoga Quest and whether they come back. Without it we cannot tell one person opening the app fifty times from fifty people opening it once. It is not linked to you — it carries no name, no email address, no device advertising identifier, and none of your class plans, cues, notes or reflections, which stay on your device as described above.
The identifier is created per installation. Deleting the app and reinstalling it produces a new one, and we have no way to connect the two.
If you sign in
Signing in is optional. The full manual app works without it. If you choose to sign in with Google, with Apple, or with a passwordless email link, Firebase Authentication upgrades the anonymous identifier above into an account and processes your account identifier, the identity your provider returns, and session metadata. Your name and email address are added to the record at that point, and not before.
Signing in lets Yoga Quest reconcile your workspace and sequence library into
documents owned by your account, so your classes follow you between devices. Those
documents are stored in Google Cloud Firestore in the Doha region
(me-central1). Security rules reject any read or write from a different
account.
Removing the anonymous identifier
Settings → Privacy & data → Delete all local data erases the anonymous identifier and its record along with your on-device class plans. The next time the app opens with a connection it registers a new one, which we have no way of connecting to the old.
Deleting your account
If you signed in, you can permanently delete your account from Settings → Privacy & data → Delete cloud account. This erases your account record and every document it owns — profile, synced workspace, sequence library, preferences, teaching history, mail receipts, and any class you shared by link. It cannot be undone. Class plans saved locally on your device are kept, so deleting your account never destroys your offline work.

Permissions we do not request
Yoga Quest does not request location, contacts, photos, camera, calendar, or health permissions. It contains no advertising SDK, no attribution SDK, and no cross-app tracking. We do not sell or share personal information for behavioural advertising.
Service providers
Yoga Quest uses Google Firebase for authentication, database storage, hosting, app attestation, and analytics, which you can turn off in Settings. When you use read-aloud, OpenAI turns the words of your teaching cues into speech. Firebase and your chosen sign-in provider may process normal operational data such as IP address, user agent, request time, and abuse signals under their own terms. Native release builds use Play Integrity or Apple App Attest through Firebase App Check to verify that requests come from a genuine copy of the app.
Exports and sharing
PDF and JSON exports leave the app only after you open your device's share sheet and choose a destination. Where the file goes after that is handled by the destination you picked, not by Yoga Quest.
Children
Yoga Quest is made for yoga teachers, teacher trainees, and experienced practitioners. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your choices
- Export — download a complete JSON copy of your local data.
- Erase locally — delete all local data from this device.
- Delete your account — permanently erase your account and everything synced to it.
- Turn analytics off — analytics is on by default; switching it off in Settings stops collection immediately and for good.
- Withdraw AI consent — the copilot returns to running locally.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that affects what we process or why, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where the change is material, tell you in the app before it takes effect.
